The king of Israel replied, “Tell him, ‘Let not one who puts on armor boast like one who takes it off.’”

Pride goes before disaster, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Peter said to him in reply, “Though all may have their faith in you shaken, mine will never be.”

I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd.

You people worship what you do not understand; we worship what we understand, because salvation is from the Jews.

When he appeared, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem surrounded him and brought many serious charges against him, which they were unable to prove.

That is so. They were broken off because of unbelief, but you are there because of faith. So do not become haughty, but stand in awe.

What occasion is there then for boasting? It is ruled out. On what principle, that of works? No, rather on the principle of faith.

For this reason, it depends on faith, so that it may be a gift, and the promise may be guaranteed to all his descendants, not to those who only adhere to the law but to those who follow the faith of Abraham, who is the father of all of us,

Therefore, whoever thinks he is standing secure should take care not to fall.

And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendant, heirs according to the promise.
