You were unmindful of the Rock that begot you, you forgot the God who gave you birth.

They ignored my counsel, they spurned all my reproof;

So Jacob ate and was satisfied, Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; you became fat and gross and gorged. They forsook the God who made them and scorned the Rock of their salvation.

When the people saw that Moses was delayed in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said to him, “Come, make us a god who will go before us; as for that man Moses who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has happened to him.”

Do you not think that a much worse punishment is due the one who has contempt for the Son of God, considers unclean the covenant-blood by which he was consecrated, and insults the spirit of grace?

But they refused to listen; they stubbornly turned their backs and stopped their ears so as not to hear.

Therefore, say to the Israelites: I am the Lord. I will free you from the burdens of the Egyptians and will deliver you from their slavery. I will redeem you by my outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.

So Moses and Aaron told all the Israelites, “At evening you will know that it was the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt;

I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

He said, “Go out, borrow vessels from all your neighbors—as many empty vessels as you can.

Therefore, days are coming—oracle of the Lord—when it will no longer be said, “As the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites out of Egypt”;

But upon returning, it finds it swept clean and put in order.
