O God who granted me vengeance, made peoples subject to me,

For the director. Do not destroy. A miktam of David, when he fled from Saul into a cave.

That one shall dwell on the heights, with fortresses of rock for stronghold, food and drink in steady supply.

Rescue me, Lord, from my foes, for I seek refuge in you.

My God, rescue me from the hand of the wicked, from the clutches of the evil and violent.

In your mercy put an end to my foes; all those who are oppressing my soul, for I am your servant.

Because he clings to me I will deliver him; because he knows my name I will set him on high.

Those who say, “By our tongues we prevail; when our lips speak, who can lord it over us?”
