“As for you, Solomon, my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and a willing soul, for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the mind’s thoughts. If you search for him, he will be found; but if you abandon him, he will cast you off forever.

He went forth to meet Asa and said to him: “Hear me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin! The Lord is with you when you are with him, and if you seek him he will be found; but if you abandon him, he will abandon you.

Yet some good has been found in you, since you have removed the asherahs from the land and have set your heart to seek God.” Judges Appointed.

And to mortals he said: See: the fear of the Lord is wisdom; and avoiding evil is understanding.

In their insolence the wicked boast: “God does not care; there is no God.”

Let this be written for the next generation, for a people not yet born, that they may praise the Lord:

The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven. God’s eyes keep careful watch; they test the children of Adam.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; prudent are all who practice it. His praise endures forever.

“Come,” says my heart, “seek his face”; your face, Lord, do I seek!

Seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon him while he is near.

For my eyes are upon all their ways; they are not hidden from me, nor does their guilt escape my sight.

Can anyone hide in secret without my seeing them?—oracle of the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth?—oracle of the Lord.

Observe them carefully, for this is your wisdom and discernment in the sight of the peoples, who will hear of all these statutes and say, “This great nation is truly a wise and discerning people.”
