Surely, I wait for the Lord; who bends down to me and hears my cry,
I was caught by the cords of death; the snares of Sheol had seized me; I felt agony and dread.
Steady my feet in accord with your promise; do not let iniquity lead me.
The enemy has pursued my soul; he has crushed my life to the ground. He has made me dwell in darkness like those long dead.
My steps have kept to your paths; my feet have not faltered.
You have given me your saving shield; your right hand has upheld me; your favor made me great.
In my distress I called out: Lord! I cried out to my God. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry to him reached his ears.
For God will hide me in his shelter in time of trouble, He will conceal me in the cover of his tent; and set me high upon a rock.
The valiant one whose steps are guided by the Lord, who will delight in his way,
Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer!
Save me, God, for the waters have reached my neck.
Whatever bitter afflictions you sent me, you would turn and revive me. From the watery depths of the earth once more raise me up.
Your mercy to me is great; you have rescued me from the depths of Sheol.
