Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun set on your anger,

I consider the days of old; the years long past

Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and turn away from evil;

My soul shall be sated as with choice food, with joyous lips my mouth shall praise you!

Who stops wars to the ends of the earth, breaks the bow, splinters the spear, and burns the shields with fire;

Examine yourselves to see whether you are living in faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless, of course, you fail the test.

Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all who dwell in the world show him reverence.

And to mortals he said: See: the fear of the Lord is wisdom; and avoiding evil is understanding.

By steadfast loyalty guilt is expiated, and by the fear of the Lord evil is avoided.

But the Lord is in his holy temple; silence before him, all the earth!

The path of the upright leads away from misfortune; those who attend to their way guard their lives.

Princes persecute me without reason, but my heart reveres only your word.

But you, Lord, are a shield around me; my glory, you keep my head high.

Serve the Lord with fear; exult with trembling, Accept correction lest he become angry and you perish along the way when his anger suddenly blazes up. Blessed are all who take refuge in him!

Should you not fear me—oracle of the Lord— should you not tremble before me? I made the sandy shore the sea’s limit, which by eternal decree it may not overstep. Toss though it may, it is to no avail; though its billows roar, they cannot overstep.

How many are my foes, Lord! How many rise against me!

I call upon you; answer me, O God. Turn your ear to me; hear my speech.
