The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The statutes of the Lord are true, all of them just;

From the commands of his lips I have not departed; the words of his mouth I have treasured in my heart.

How sweet to my tongue is your promise, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Truly I love your commandments more than gold, more than the finest gold.

The law of your mouth is more precious to me than heaps of silver and gold.

I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands, calling on your name.

How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is preferable to silver.

If you eat honey, my son, because it is good, if pure honey is sweet to your taste,

My fruit is better than gold, even pure gold, and my yield than choice silver.

I took the small scroll from the angel’s hand and swallowed it. In my mouth it was like sweet honey, but when I had eaten it, my stomach turned sour.
