As he looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah and the whole region of the Plain, he saw smoke over the land rising like the smoke from a kiln.

He regards iron as chaff, and bronze as rotten wood.

Who looks at the earth and it trembles, touches the mountains and they smoke!

And rains upon the wicked fiery coals and brimstone, a scorching wind their allotted cup.

Your hand will find all your enemies; your right hand will find your foes!

Our God comes and will not be silent! Devouring fire precedes him, it rages strongly around him.

A maskil of Asaph. Why, God, have you cast us off forever? Why does your anger burn against the sheep of your pasture?

And fire from the Lord came forth which consumed the two hundred and fifty men who were offering the incense.

The Lord will single them out from all the tribes of Israel for doom, in keeping with all the curses of the covenant written in this book of the law. Punishment for Idolatry.

If anyone wants to harm them, fire comes out of their mouths and devours their enemies. In this way, anyone wanting to harm them is sure to be slain.
