In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth—

How varied are your works, Lord! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.

He made the earth by his power, established the world by wisdom, and by his skill stretched out the heavens.

By the Lord’s word the heavens were made; by the breath of his mouth all their host.

The one who made the earth by his power, established the world by his wisdom, and by his skill stretched out the heavens.

God made the dome, and it separated the water below the dome from the water above the dome. And so it happened.

God called the dome “sky.” Evening came, and morning followed—the second day.

When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and stars that you set in place—

May the Lord bless you from Zion, the Maker of heaven and earth.
