The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of human hands.
They gave their gods to the fire —they were not gods at all, but the work of human hands— Wood and stone, they destroyed them.
Since therefore we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the divinity is like an image fashioned from gold, silver, or stone by human art and imagination.
There you shall serve gods that are works of human hands, of wood and stone, gods which can neither see nor hear, neither eat nor smell.
