I will not violate my covenant; the promise of my lips I will not alter.

His dynasty will continue forever, his throne, like the sun before me.

God is not a human being who speaks falsely, nor a mortal, who feels regret. Is God one to speak and not act, to decree and not bring it to pass?

He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,

But since he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants upon his throne,

so that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge might be strongly encouraged to hold fast to the hope that lies before us.

The Glory of Israel neither deceives nor repents, for he is not a mortal who repents.”
