A song of ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the Lord build the house, they labor in vain who build. Unless the Lord guard the city, in vain does the guard keep watch.

A song of ascents. The Lord answered me when I called in my distress:

And if Christ has not been raised, then empty [too] is our preaching; empty, too, your faith.

Therefore, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who causes the growth.

I am afraid on your account that perhaps I have labored for you in vain. Appeal to Former Loyalty.

Remember then the Lord, your God, for he is the one who gives you the power to get wealth, by fulfilling, as he has now done, the covenant he swore to your ancestors.
