Psalm 118:5

In danger I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.

They attacked me on my day of distress, but the Lord was my support.

The cords of Sheol encircled me; the snares of death lay in wait for me.

A song of ascents. The Lord answered me when I called in my distress:

In their distress they cried to the Lord, who saved them in their peril,

I will rejoice and be glad in your mercy, once you have seen my misery, [and] gotten to know the distress of my soul.

In their distress they cried to the Lord, who saved them in their peril;

I cry aloud to God, I cry to God to hear me.

When the messengers returned to Jacob, they said, “We found your brother Esau. He is now coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him.”

He set me free in the open; he rescued me because he loves me.
