Whoever curses father or mother shall be put to death.

Those who curse father or mother— their lamp will go out in the dead of night.

Listen to your father who begot you, do not despise your mother when she is old.

The eye that mocks a father, or scorns the homage due a mother, Will be plucked out by brook ravens; devoured by a brood of vultures.

Anyone who curses father or mother shall be put to death; and having cursed father or mother, such a one will bear the bloodguilt.

A son honors his father, and a servant fears his master; If, then, I am a father, where is the honor due to me? And if I am a master, where is the fear due to me? So says the Lord of hosts to you, O priests, who disdain my name. But you ask, “How have we disdained your name?”

When he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

“Cursed be anyone who dishonors father or mother!” And all the people shall answer, “Amen!”

But if a widow has children or grandchildren, let these first learn to perform their religious duty to their own family and to make recompense to their parents, for this is pleasing to God.

And whoever does not provide for relatives and especially family members has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

But you are “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may announce the praises” of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
