Those who spare their words are truly knowledgeable, and those who are discreet are intelligent.

Where words are many, sin is not wanting; but those who restrain their lips do well.

Long-suffering results in great wisdom; a short temper raises folly high.

The heart of the just ponders a response, but the mouth of the wicked spews evil.

The patient are better than warriors, and those who rule their temper, better than the conqueror of a city.

The quiet words of the wise are better heeded than the shout of a ruler of fools.

Know this, my dear brothers: everyone should be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath,

And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for those who cultivate peace.

for we all fall short in many respects. If anyone does not fall short in speech, he is a perfect man, able to bridle his whole body also.
