How long will you turn away at my reproof? [The arrogant delight in their arrogance, and fools hate knowledge.] Lo! I will pour out to you my spirit, I will acquaint you with my words:

Poverty and shame befall those who let go of discipline, but those who hold on to reproof receive honor.

Walk with the wise and you become wise, but the companion of fools fares badly.

A cheerful glance brings joy to the heart; good news invigorates the bones.

Those who disregard discipline hate themselves, but those who heed reproof acquire understanding.

The fool spurns a father’s instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is prudent.

The heart of the intelligent acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may eventually become wise.

A golden earring or a necklace of fine gold— one who gives wise reproof to a listening ear.

It is better to listen to the rebuke of the wise than to listen to the song of fools;

Pay attention and come to me; listen, that you may have life. I will make with you an everlasting covenant, the steadfast loyalty promised to David.

They went out from us, but they were not really of our number; if they had been, they would have remained with us. Their desertion shows that none of them was of our number.
