Then the Lord opened the mouth of the donkey, and she asked Balaam, “What have I done to you that you beat me these three times?”
but he received a rebuke for his own crime: a mute beast spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.

The Lord said to him: Who gives one person speech? Who makes another mute or deaf, seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord?
For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the learning of the learned I will set aside.”
We know that all creation is groaning in labor pains even until now;
