And the Lord said to Moses: How long will this people spurn me? How long will they not trust me, despite all the signs I have performed among them?

Next they despised the beautiful land; they did not believe the promise.

For they did not believe in God, did not trust in his saving power.

In spite of all this they went on sinning, they did not believe in his wonders.

Do not harden your hearts as at Meribah, as on the day of Massah in the desert.

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and told him, “Thus says the Lord, the God of the Hebrews: How long will you refuse to submit to me? Let my people go to serve me.

Then the Lord said to Moses: How long will you refuse to keep my commandments and my instructions?

Be attentive to him and obey him. Do not rebel against him, for he will not forgive your sin. My authority is within him.

I have seen this people, how stiff-necked they are, continued the Lord to Moses.

“How long, you naive ones, will you love naivete,

This wicked people who refuse to obey my words, who walk in the stubbornness of their hearts and follow other gods, serving and worshiping them, will be like this loincloth, good for nothing.

Cleanse your heart of evil, Jerusalem, that you may be saved. How long will you entertain wicked schemes?

But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not observe my statutes, and they rejected my ordinances that bring life to those who keep them. My sabbaths, too, they desecrated grievously. Then I considered pouring out my fury on them in the wilderness to put an end to them,

He has rejected your calf, Samaria! My wrath is kindled against them; How long will they be incapable of innocence in Israel?

Thus says the Lord of hosts: Just as I intended to harm you when your ancestors angered me—says the Lord of hosts—and I did not relent,

not one shall see the land which I promised on oath to their ancestors. None of those who have spurned me shall see it.

How long will this wicked community grumble against me? I have heard the grumblings of the Israelites against me.

At that time the anger of the Lord flared up, and he swore:

Jesus said in reply, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long will I be with you? How long will I endure you? Bring him here to me.”

He said to them in reply, “O faithless generation, how long will I be with you? How long will I endure you? Bring him to me.”

but if I perform them, even if you do not believe me, believe the works, so that you may realize [and understand] that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.”

Although he had performed so many signs in their presence they did not believe in him,

If I had not done works among them that no one else ever did, they would not have sin; but as it is, they have seen and hated both me and my Father.

Despite this, you would not trust the Lord, your God,

Who were those who rebelled when they heard? Was it not all those who came out of Egypt under Moses?

And to whom did he “swear that they should not enter into his rest,” if not to those who were disobedient?

‘Harden not your hearts as at the rebellion in the day of testing in the desert,
