Do not rejoice over me, my enemy! though I have fallen, I will arise; though I sit in darkness, the Lord is my light.

Had I rejoiced at the destruction of my enemy or exulted when evil came upon him,

Light shines through the darkness for the upright; gracious, compassionate, and righteous.

The enemy has pursued my soul; he has crushed my life to the ground. He has made me dwell in darkness like those long dead.

Some rely on chariots, others on horses, but we on the name of the Lord our God.
