But you, Bethlehem-Ephrathah least among the clans of Judah, From you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel; Whose origin is from of old, from ancient times.

Thus Rachel died; and she was buried on the road to Ephrath (now Bethlehem).

For you put up with it if someone enslaves you, or devours you, or gets the better of you, or puts on airs, or slaps you in the face.

The Lord will raise up against you a nation from afar, from the end of the earth, that swoops down like an eagle, a nation whose language you do not understand,

The God of old is a refuge; a support are the arms of the Everlasting. He drove the enemy out of your way and he said, “Destroy!”

There was a young man from Bethlehem of Judah, from the clan of Judah; he was a Levite residing there.
