Oracle on Damascus: See, Damascus shall cease to be a city and become a pile of ruins;

You shall again plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria; those who plant them shall enjoy their fruits.

In the fourth year of King Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea, son of Elah, king of Israel, Shalmaneser, king of Assyria, attacked Samaria and laid siege to it,

and after three years they captured it. In the sixth year of Hezekiah, the ninth year of Hoshea, king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

The Lord God has sworn by his very self— an oracle of the Lord, the God of hosts: I abhor the pride of Jacob, I hate his strongholds, and I will hand over the city with everything in it;
