one who swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by him who is seated on it.

But I say to you, do not swear at all; not by heaven, for it is God’s throne;

Thus says the Lord: The heavens are my throne, the earth, my footstool. What house can you build for me? Where is the place of my rest?

The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven. God’s eyes keep careful watch; they test the children of Adam.

‘The heavens are my throne, the earth is my footstool. What kind of house can you build for me? says the Lord, or what is to be my resting place?
