And he said to them, “It is written: ‘My house shall be a house of prayer,’ but you are making it a den of thieves.”
Your decrees are firmly established; holiness befits your house, Lord, for all the length of days.
Them I will bring to my holy mountain and make them joyful in my house of prayer; Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on my altar, For my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.
Has this house which bears my name become in your eyes a den of thieves? I have seen it for myself!—oracle of the Lord.
They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it has been written through the prophet:
Then he taught them saying, “Is it not written: ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples’? But you have made it a den of thieves.”
Then Jesus entered the temple area and proceeded to drive out those who were selling things,
saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.’”
But in order that the word written in their law might be fulfilled, ‘They hated me without cause.’
