Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, “[Lord,] Son of David, have pity on us!”

the Lord gives sight to the blind. The Lord raises up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous.

On that day the deaf shall hear the words of a scroll; And out of gloom and darkness, the eyes of the blind shall see.

I will lead the blind on a way they do not know; by paths they do not know I will guide them. I will turn darkness into light before them, and make crooked ways straight. These are my promises: I made them, I will not forsake them.

You deaf ones, listen, you blind ones, look and see!

Like those who are blind we grope along the wall, like people without eyes we feel our way. We stumble at midday as if at twilight, among the vigorous, we are like the dead.

And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds came and ate it up.

And behold, a Canaanite woman of that district came and called out, “Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is tormented by a demon.”

The crowd warned them to be silent, but they called out all the more, “Lord, Son of David, have pity on us!”

The blind and the lame approached him in the temple area, and he cured them.

The crowds preceding him and those following kept crying out and saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; hosanna in the highest.”

saying, “What is your opinion about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” They replied, “David’s.”

They came to Jericho. And as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a sizable crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind man, the son of Timaeus, sat by the roadside begging.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free,

At that time he cured many of their diseases, sufferings, and evil spirits; he also granted sight to many who were blind.

But since he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants upon his throne,
