He stayed there until the death of Herod, that what the Lord had said through the prophet might be fulfilled, “Out of Egypt I called my son.” The Massacre of the Infants.

When Israel was a child I loved him, out of Egypt I called my son.

So you will say to Pharaoh, Thus says the Lord: Israel is my son, my firstborn.

They have the like of a wild ox’s horns: God who brought them out of Egypt. They will devour hostile nations, break their bones, and crush their loins.

He said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and in the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled.”

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
