[His] disciples said to him, “If that is the case of a man with his wife, it is better not to marry.”

The Lord God said: It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suited to him.

To find a wife is to find happiness, a favor granted by the Lord.

It is better to dwell in a wilderness than with a quarrelsome wife and trouble.

It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop than in a mansion with a quarrelsome woman.

He answered, “Not all can accept [this] word, but only those to whom that is granted.

I say to you, whoever divorces his wife (unless the marriage is unlawful) and marries another commits adultery.”

Now to the unmarried and to widows I say: it is a good thing for them to remain as they are, as I do,

They forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
