More tortuous than anything is the human heart, beyond remedy; who can understand it?

With all vigilance guard your heart, for in it are the sources of life.

When the Lord saw how great the wickedness of human beings was on earth, and how every desire that their heart conceived was always nothing but evil,

Cleanse your heart of evil, Jerusalem, that you may be saved. How long will you entertain wicked schemes?

Repent of this wickedness of yours and pray to the Lord that, if possible, your intention may be forgiven.

Their feet run to evil, and they hasten to shed innocent blood; Their thoughts are thoughts of wickedness, violence and destruction are on their highways.

Let the wicked forsake their way, and sinners their thoughts; Let them turn to the Lord to find mercy; to our God, who is generous in forgiving.
