After they had finished, they brought the rest of the money to the king and to Jehoiada, who had it made into utensils for the house of the Lord, utensils for the service and the burnt offerings, and basins and other gold and silver utensils. They sacrificed burnt offerings in the Lord’s house continually all the days of Jehoiada.

Joash did what was right in the Lord’s sight as long as Jehoiada the priest lived.

Then the king summoned Jehoiada, who was in charge, and said to him: “Why have you not required the Levites to bring in from Judah and Jerusalem the tax levied by Moses, the servant of the Lord, and by the assembly of Israel, for the tent of the testimony?”

The seed sown on the path is the one who hears the word of the kingdom without understanding it, and the evil one comes and steals away what was sown in his heart.

But he has no root and lasts only for a time. When some tribulation or persecution comes because of the word, he immediately falls away.

For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Herod feared John, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man, and kept him in custody. When he heard him speak he was very much perplexed, yet he liked to listen to him.

He was a burning and shining lamp, and for a while you were content to rejoice in his light.

Even Simon himself believed and, after being baptized, became devoted to Philip; and when he saw the signs and mighty deeds that were occurring, he was astounded.
