About three months later, Judah was told, “Your daughter-in-law Tamar has acted like a harlot and now she is pregnant from her harlotry.” Judah said, “Bring her out; let her be burned.”

These are the descendants of Noah. Noah was a righteous man and blameless in his generation; Noah walked with God.

If a man has sexual relations with a female slave who has been acquired by another man but has not yet been redeemed or given her freedom, an investigation shall be made. They shall not be put to death, because she has not been freed.

If a man commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death.

They replied, “Moses permitted him to write a bill of divorce and dismiss her.”

Herod feared John, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man, and kept him in custody. When he heard him speak he was very much perplexed, yet he liked to listen to him.

Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the holy Spirit was upon him.

They answered, “Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God-fearing man, respected by the whole Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to summon you to his house and to hear what you have to say.”

When day came they did not recognize the land, but made out a bay with a beach. They planned to run the ship ashore on it, if they could.

With this confidence I formerly intended to come to you so that you might receive a double favor,

But if this charge is true, and evidence of the young woman’s virginity is not found,
