For they did not believe in God, did not trust in his saving power.

And the Lord said to Moses: How long will this people spurn me? How long will they not trust me, despite all the signs I have performed among them?

of all the people who have seen my glory and the signs I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and who nevertheless have put me to the test ten times already and have not obeyed me,

How long will this wicked community grumble against me? I have heard the grumblings of the Israelites against me.

Jesus said in reply, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long will I be with you? How long will I endure you? Bring him here to me.”

[But] later, as the eleven were at table, he appeared to them and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart because they had not believed those who saw him after he had been raised.

Wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, grinds his teeth, and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive it out, but they were unable to do so.”

They brought the boy to him. And when he saw him, the spirit immediately threw the boy into convulsions. As he fell to the ground, he began to roll around and foam at the mouth.

And he said to them, “Oh, how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke!

Jesus said in reply, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long will I be with you and endure you? Bring your son here.”

“I am troubled now. Yet what should I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But it was for this purpose that I came to this hour.

Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.”

He said, I will hide my face from them, and see what becomes of them. For they are a fickle generation, children with no loyalty in them!
