Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!”

Consider your own calling, brothers. Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.

Listen, my beloved brothers. Did not God choose those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?

Jesus looked at him [now sad] and said, “How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!

Looking around at them with anger and grieved at their hardness of heart, he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out and his hand was restored.

For, in this way, entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ will be richly provided for you. Apostolic Witness.

Adulterers! Do you not know that to be a lover of the world means enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wants to be a lover of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Jesus answered, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit.

Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it.”

And he looked around to see who had done it.

and said, “Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Had I put my trust in gold or called fine gold my security;

At that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.
