Then his disciples asked him what the meaning of this parable might be.

Let us know, let us strive to know the Lord; as certain as the dawn is his coming. He will come to us like the rain, like spring rain that waters the earth.”

The disciples approached him and said, “Why do you speak to them in parables?”

“Hear then the parable of the sower.

Then, dismissing the crowds, he went into the house. His disciples approached him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”

Then Peter said to him in reply, “Explain [this] parable to us.”

And when he was alone, those present along with the Twelve questioned him about the parables.

Without parables he did not speak to them, but to his own disciples he explained everything in private. The Calming of a Storm at Sea.

I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.
