“But who am I, and who are my people, that we should have the means to contribute so freely? For everything is from you, and what we give is what we have from you.

But her merchandise and her hire shall be sacred to the Lord. It shall not be stored up or laid away; instead, her merchandise shall belong to those who dwell before the Lord, to eat their fill and clothe themselves in choice attire.

There were many women there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him.

The women were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James; the others who accompanied them also told this to the apostles,

He said this not because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief and held the money bag and used to steal the contributions.

Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Symeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who was a close friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

For you know the gracious act of our Lord Jesus Christ, that for your sake he became poor although he was rich, so that by his poverty you might become rich.

all the holy ones send you their greetings, especially those of Caesar’s household.

with a reputation for good works, namely, that she has raised children, practiced hospitality, washed the feet of the holy ones, helped those in distress, involved herself in every good work.
