But I had planted you as a choice vine, all pedigreed stock; How could you turn out so obnoxious to me, a spurious vine?

“It will be as when a man who was going on a journey called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them.

So he said, “A nobleman went off to a distant country to obtain the kingship for himself and then to return.

At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenant farmers to receive some of the produce of the vineyard. But they beat the servant and sent him away empty-handed.

Then Jesus said to them, “Neither shall I tell you by what authority I do these things.” The Parable of the Tenant Farmers.

In all the communities which the Lord, your God, is giving you, you shall appoint judges and officials throughout your tribes to administer true justice for the people.
