At once each took his garment, spread it under Jehu on the bare steps, blew the horn, and cried out, “Jehu is king!” Death of Joram of Israel.

This happened so that what had been spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled:

They brought the ass and the colt and laid their cloaks over them, and he sat upon them.

They answered, “The Master has need of it.”

As he rode along, the people were spreading their cloaks on the road;

On the next day, when the great crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

Jesus found an ass and sat upon it, as is written:
