Son of man, propose a riddle, and tell this proverb to the house of Israel:

All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables. He spoke to them only in parables,

They love places of honor at banquets, seats of honor in synagogues,

Woe to you Pharisees! You love the seat of honor in synagogues and greetings in marketplaces.

“Be on guard against the scribes, who like to go around in long robes and love greetings in marketplaces, seats of honor in synagogues, and places of honor at banquets.

Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory; rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves,
