Make seven, or even eight portions; you know not what misfortune may come upon the earth.

Is it not sharing your bread with the hungry, bringing the afflicted and the homeless into your house; Clothing the naked when you see them, and not turning your back on your own flesh?

They concluded among themselves, saying, “It is because we have brought no bread.”

Give to the one who asks of you, and do not turn your back on one who wants to borrow. Love of Enemies.

There was a scholar of the law who stood up to test him and said, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

But as to what is within, give alms, and behold, everything will be clean for you.

Then he told them a parable. “There was a rich man whose land produced a bountiful harvest.

And he said, ‘This is what I shall do: I shall tear down my barns and build larger ones. There I shall store all my grain and other goods

He said to [his] disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life and what you will eat, or about your body and what you will wear.

As for you, do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not worry anymore.

Sell your belongings and give alms. Provide money bags for yourselves that do not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven that no thief can reach nor moth destroy.

The steward said to himself, ‘What shall I do, now that my master is taking the position of steward away from me? I am not strong enough to dig and I am ashamed to beg.

I tell you, make friends for yourselves with dishonest wealth, so that when it fails, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.

When Jesus heard this he said to him, “There is still one thing left for you: sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor, and you will have a treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

He replied, ‘Well done, good servant! You have been faithful in this very small matter; take charge of ten cities.’

He said to them in reply, “Whoever has two tunics should share with the person who has none. And whoever has food should do likewise.”

Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and they asked Peter and the other apostles, “What are we to do, my brothers?”

Contribute to the needs of the holy ones, exercise hospitality.

Tell the rich in the present age not to be proud and not to rely on so uncertain a thing as wealth but rather on God, who richly provides us with all things for our enjoyment.

The way we came to know love was that he laid down his life for us; so we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
