So Elijah said to the people, “I am the only remaining prophet of the Lord, and there are four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal.

Your creatures dwelt in it; you will establish it in your goodness for the poor, O God.

I will appoint for you shepherds after my own heart, who will shepherd you wisely and prudently.

Ah! my worthless shepherd who forsakes the flock! May the sword fall upon his arm and upon his right eye; His arm will surely wither, and his right eye surely go blind!

For they who buy them slay them and are not held accountable; while those who sell them say, “Blessed be the Lord, I have become rich!” Even their own shepherds will not pity them.

I will come down and speak with you there. I will also take some of the spirit that is on you and will confer it on them, that they may share the burden of the people with you. You will then not have to bear it by yourself.

But Moses answered him, “Are you jealous for my sake? If only all the people of the Lord were prophets! If only the Lord would bestow his spirit on them!”

“The kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out at dawn to hire laborers for his vineyard.

It is like a man traveling abroad. He leaves home and places his servants in charge, each with his work, and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch.

He said to them, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature.

Now those who had been scattered went about preaching the word.

Some people God has designated in the church to be, first, apostles; second, prophets; third, teachers; then, mighty deeds; then, gifts of healing, assistance, administration, and varieties of tongues.

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me has not been ineffective. Indeed, I have toiled harder than all of them; not I, however, but the grace of God [that is] with me.

Working together, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.

With regard to Epaphroditus, my brother and co-worker and fellow soldier, your messenger and minister in my need, I consider it necessary to send him to you.

because for the sake of the work of Christ he came close to death, risking his life to make up for those services to me that you could not perform.

For this I labor and struggle, in accord with the exercise of his power working within me.

Epaphras sends you greetings; he is one of you, a slave of Christ [Jesus], always striving for you in his prayers so that you may be perfect and fully assured in all the will of God.

You recall, brothers, our toil and drudgery. Working night and day in order not to burden any of you, we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.

We ask you, brothers, to respect those who are laboring among you and who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you,

Finally, brothers, pray for us, so that the word of the Lord may speed forward and be glorified, as it did among you,

For this we toil and struggle, because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the savior of all, especially of those who believe.

But you, be self-possessed in all circumstances; put up with hardship; perform the work of an evangelist; fulfill your ministry. Reward for Fidelity.

Paul, a prisoner for Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, to Philemon, our beloved and our co-worker,
