Joshua 1:2

Moses my servant is dead. So now, you and the whole people with you, prepare to cross the Jordan to the land that I will give the Israelites.

I will give to you and to your descendants after you the land in which you are now residing as aliens, the whole land of Canaan, as a permanent possession; and I will be their God.

You made their children as numerous as the stars of the heavens, and you brought them into the land which you had commanded their ancestors to enter and possess.

The Lord said to the satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him, blameless and upright, fearing God and avoiding evil.”

Here is my servant whom I uphold, my chosen one with whom I am pleased. Upon him I have put my spirit; he shall bring forth justice to the nations.

Not so with my servant Moses! Throughout my house he is worthy of trust:

Commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for it is he who will cross at the head of this people and he who will give them possession of the land you are to see.

Then Moses summoned Joshua and in the presence of all Israel said to him, “Be strong and steadfast, for you shall bring this people into the land which the Lord swore to their ancestors he would give them; it is you who will give them possession of it.

So there, in the land of Moab, Moses, the servant of the Lord, died as the Lord had said;

After Moses, the servant of the Lord, had died, the Lord said to Moses’ aide Joshua, son of Nun:

“Go through the camp and command the people, ‘Prepare your provisions, for three days from now you shall cross the Jordan here, to march in and possess the land the Lord, your God, is giving as your possession.’” The Transjordan Tribes.
