(since people will hear of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm), when they come and pray toward this house,

I went down to the roots of the mountains; to the land whose bars closed behind me forever, But you brought my life up from the pit, O Lord, my God.

Deep calls to deep in the roar of your torrents, and all your waves and breakers sweep over me.

My couch is among the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave. You remember them no more; they are cut off from your influence.

You plunge me into the bottom of the pit, into the darkness of the abyss.

The waters flowed over my head: and I said, “I am lost!”
