Out of my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me; From the womb of Sheol I cried for help, and you heard my voice.
The breakers of death surged round about me, the menacing floods terrified me;
I love the Lord, who listened to my voice in supplication,
Who turned an ear to me on the day I called.
A song of ascents. The Lord answered me when I called in my distress:
My soul is downcast within me; therefore I remember you From the land of the Jordan and Hermon, from Mount Mizar,
The waters flowed over my head: and I said, “I am lost!”
I have called upon your name, O Lord, from the bottom of the pit;
