But as for me, I am filled with power, with the spirit of the Lord, with justice and with might; To declare to Jacob his crimes and to Israel his sins.

You must speak my words to them, whether they hear or resist, because they are rebellious.

I said: “My God, I am too ashamed and humiliated to raise my face to you, my God, for our wicked deeds are heaped up above our heads and our guilt reaches up to heaven.

Behold, the wages you withheld from the workers who harvested your fields are crying aloud, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.

and you will be led before governors and kings for my sake as a witness before them and the pagans.

At the judgment, the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and there is something greater than Jonah here.

So Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, broke camp, departed, returned home, and stayed in Nineveh.

I say I will not mention him, I will no longer speak in his name. But then it is as if fire is burning in my heart, imprisoned in my bones; I grow weary holding back, I cannot!

Yet they do not call to mind that I remember all their wickedness. Now their crimes surround them, present to my sight.

So Jonah set out for Nineveh, in accord with the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an awesomely great city; it took three days to walk through it.

In Samaria there was a prophet of the Lord by the name of Oded. He went out to meet the army returning to Samaria and said to them: “It was because the Lord, the God of your ancestors, was angry with Judah that he delivered them into your power. You, however, have killed them with a fury that has reached up to heaven.

There is no healing for your hurt, your wound is fatal. All who hear this news of you clap their hands over you; For who has not suffered under your endless malice?
