So Pilate went back into the praetorium and summoned Jesus and said to him, “Are you the King of the Jews?”

See, days are coming—oracle of the Lord— when I will raise up a righteous branch for David; As king he shall reign and govern wisely, he shall do what is just and right in the land.

The Lord has removed the judgment against you, he has turned away your enemies; The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst, you have no further misfortune to fear.

Exult greatly, O daughter Zion! Shout for joy, O daughter Jerusalem! Behold: your king is coming to you, a just savior is he, Humble, and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Now Jesus stood before the governor, and he questioned him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus said, “You say so.”

Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus inside the praetorium and gathered the whole cohort around him.

Pilate questioned him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” He said to him in reply, “You say so.”

They brought charges against him, saying, “We found this man misleading our people; he opposes the payment of taxes to Caesar and maintains that he is the Messiah, a king.”

Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.”

they took palm branches and went out to meet him, and cried out: “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, [even] the king of Israel.”

“Fear no more, O daughter Zion; see, your king comes, seated upon an ass’s colt.”

Jesus answered, “Do you say this on your own or have others told you about me?”

So Pilate said to him, “Then you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”

Pilate said to him, “What is truth?” When he had said this, he again went out to the Jews and said to them, “I find no guilt in him.

Consequently, Pilate tried to release him; but the Jews cried out, “If you release him, you are not a Friend of Caesar. Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar.”

and they came to him and said, “Hail, King of the Jews!” And they struck him repeatedly.

Once more Pilate went out and said to them, “Look, I am bringing him out to you, so that you may know that I find no guilt in him.”

and went back into the praetorium and said to Jesus, “Where are you from?” Jesus did not answer him.

I charge [you] before God, who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who gave testimony under Pontius Pilate for the noble confession,
