When I was with them I protected them in your name that you gave me, and I guarded them, and none of them was lost except the son of destruction, in order that the scripture might be fulfilled.

So they said to one another, “Let’s not tear it, but cast lots for it to see whose it will be,” in order that the passage of scripture might be fulfilled [that says]: “They divided my garments among them, and for my vesture they cast lots.” This is what the soldiers did.

But not everyone has heeded the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what was heard from us?”

Then Isaiah speaks boldly and says: “I was found [by] those who were not seeking me; I revealed myself to those who were not asking for me.”

but to those who are called, Jews and Greeks alike, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

to reveal his Son to me, so that I might proclaim him to the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult flesh and blood,
