I know well that it is so; but how can anyone be in the right before God?

“When they sin against you (for there is no one who does not sin), and in your anger against them you deliver them to an enemy, so that their captors carry them off to the land of the enemy, far or near,

Lord, God of Israel, you are just; yet we have been spared, the remnant we are today. Here we are before you in our sins. Because of all this, we can no longer stand in your presence.”

How can anyone be in the right against God, or how can any born of woman be innocent?

Even the moon is not bright and the stars are not clean in his eyes.

But the anger of Elihu, son of Barachel the Buzite, of the clan of Ram, was kindled. He was angry with Job for considering himself rather than God to be in the right.

“I am clean, without transgression; I am innocent, there is no guilt in me.

For Job has said, “I am innocent, but God has taken away what is my right.

“Can anyone be more in the right than God? Can mortals be more blameless than their Maker?

Then Job answered and said:

If you, Lord, keep account of sins, Lord, who can stand?

Do not enter into judgment with your servant; before you no one can be just.

since no human being will be justified in his sight by observing the law; for through the law comes consciousness of sin. Justification Apart from the Law.
