But I would speak with the Almighty; I want to argue with God.

But oh, that God would speak, and open his lips against you,

Slay me though he might, I will wait for him; I will defend my conduct before him.

Then call me, and I will respond; or let me speak first, and answer me.

Oh, that I had one to hear my case: here is my signature: let the Almighty answer me! Let my accuser write out his indictment!

Will one who argues with the Almighty be corrected? Let him who would instruct God give answer!

In your place, I would appeal to God, and to God I would state my plea.

Should one wish to contend with him, he could not answer him once in a thousand times.

Present your case, says the Lord; bring forward your arguments, says the King of Jacob.

Hear, O mountains, the Lord’s case, pay attention, O foundations of the earth! For the Lord has a case against his people; he enters into trial with Israel.
