James 1:1

James, a slave of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes in the dispersion, greetings. Perseverance in Trial.

Then they shall know that I am the Lord, when I disperse them among the nations and scatter them throughout the lands.

These stones were twelve, to match the names of the sons of Israel, and each stone was engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes.

Moses then wrote down all the words of the Lord and, rising early in the morning, he built at the foot of the mountain an altar and twelve sacred stones for the twelve tribes of Israel.

I heard the number of those who had been marked with the seal, one hundred and forty-four thousand marked from every tribe of the Israelites:

Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem.
