For seven days from now I will bring rain down on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and so I will wipe out from the face of the earth every being that I have made.

The flood continued upon the earth for forty days. As the waters increased, they lifted the ark, so that it rose above the earth.

likewise, of every bird of the air, seven pairs, a male and a female, to keep their progeny alive over all the earth.

He waited yet seven days more and again released the dove from the ark.

He waited yet another seven days and then released the dove; but this time it did not come back.

The fountains of the abyss and the floodgates of the sky were closed, and the downpour from the sky was held back.

They were snatched before their time; their foundations a river swept away.

When he weighed out the wind, and measured out the waters;

Heap punishment upon their punishment; let them gain from you no vindication.

For this, says the Lord, I am sending you from the face of the earth; this very year you shall die, because you have preached rebellion against the Lord.

And I withheld the rain from you when the harvest was still three months away; I sent rain upon one city but not upon another; One field was watered by rain, but the one I did not water dried up;

“‘“The victor will thus be dressed in white, and I will never erase his name from the book of life but will acknowledge his name in the presence of my Father and of his angels.
