Judah then stepped up to him and said: “I beg you, my lord, let your servant appeal to my lord, and do not become angry with your servant, for you are the equal of Pharaoh.

Aaron replied, “Do not let my lord be angry. You know how the people are prone to evil.

You shall be in charge of my household, and all my people will obey your command. Only in respect to the throne will I outrank you.”

Then he said, “Do not let my Lord be angry if I go on. What if only thirty are found there?” He replied: I will refrain from doing it if I can find thirty there.

“I am Pharaoh,” he told Joseph, “but without your approval no one shall lift hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.”

But he persisted: “Please, do not let my Lord be angry if I speak up this last time. What if ten are found there?” For the sake of the ten, he replied, I will not destroy it.

My brothers, one can confidently say to you about the patriarch David that he died and was buried, and his tomb is in our midst to this day.

Nor does the Father judge anyone, but he has given all judgment to his Son,

Because he made him so great, the nations and peoples of every language dreaded and feared him. Whomever he willed, he would kill or let live; whomever he willed, he would exalt or humble.

The king’s wrath is like the roar of a lion, but his favor, like dew on the grass.

How long, Lord? Will you be angry forever? Will your jealous anger keep burning like fire?

Be attentive, Job, listen to me! Be silent and I will speak.

But the woman continued, “Please let your servant say still another word to my lord the king.” He replied, “Speak.”

There we were, binding sheaves in the field, when suddenly my sheaf rose to an upright position, and your sheaves formed a ring around my sheaf and bowed down to it.”

His brothers said to him, “Are you really going to make yourself king over us? Will you rule over us?” So they hated him all the more because of his dreams and his reports.

Joseph said, “Far be it from me to act thus! Only the one in whose possession the goblet was found shall become my slave; the rest of you may go back unharmed to your father.”

He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had.
