By the sweat of your brow you shall eat bread, Until you return to the ground, from which you were taken; For you are dust, and to dust you shall return.

Abraham spoke up again: “See how I am presuming to speak to my Lord, though I am only dust and ashes!

then the Lord God formed the man out of the dust of the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

“Although I am a resident alien among you, sell me from your holdings a burial place, that I may bury my deceased wife.”

Thorns and thistles it shall bear for you, and you shall eat the grass of the field.

People go out to their work, to their labor till evening falls.

When you hide your face, they panic. Take away their breath, they perish and return to the dust.

It is vain for you to rise early and put off your rest at night, To eat bread earned by hard toil— all this God gives to his beloved in sleep.

Like water my life drains away; all my bones are disjointed. My heart has become like wax, it melts away within me.

For kingship belongs to the Lord, the ruler over the nations.

You turn humanity back into dust, saying, “Return, you children of Adam!”

Whoever strays from the way of good sense will abide in the assembly of the shades.

and I applied my mind to search and investigate in wisdom all things that are done under the sun. A bad business God has given to human beings to be busied with.

What profit have we from all the toil which we toil at under the sun?

And the dust returns to the earth as it once was, and the life breath returns to God who gave it.

Both go to the same place; both were made from the dust, and to the dust they both return.

This too is a grievous evil, that they go just as they came. What then does it profit them to toil for the wind?

Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake; Some to everlasting life, others to reproach and everlasting disgrace.

The first man was from the earth, earthly; the second man, from heaven.

The thief must no longer steal, but rather labor, doing honest work with his [own] hands, so that he may have something to share with one in need.

You recall, brothers, our toil and drudgery. Working night and day in order not to burden any of you, we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.

In fact, when we were with you, we instructed you that if anyone was unwilling to work, neither should that one eat.

Just as it is appointed that human beings die once, and after this the judgment,
